'no poo' week 10

today marks 10 weeks since i last used shampoo on my hair!

this morning i used a 'slurry' of 1 tbs baking soda mixed in 1 cup of water followed by a TINY pea sized dab of regular conditioner...why the conditioner? cause my hair is so staticky and that's the only way i've found to combat it...so i am using regular conditioner just a couple of days a week and apple cider vinegar as a conditioning rinse on days i don't use the conditioner...

also, i blast my hair with COLD water right before getting out of the shower...it makes my hair very shiny!

i was supposed to get my hair cut today but since it's in great shape and i see no split ends i decided to delay that for at least one more month...

week 10

week 3

i think my hair has grown more than i thought...

my next 'goal' with this process is to get to the point where i only wash (definition = use baking soda/vinegar or conditoner) only every other day (currently i only skip saturdays if i don't have to go somewhere important)...in order to do that i think i will have to be able to wear my hair 'up' in some form or fashion (because it will most likely be oily for a while until it adjusts to only being washed every other day) and it's not quite long enough to do that yet...maybe another couple weeks...

all in all i LOVE not using shampoo and hair care products! it saves $, saves the environment and my bathroom (shower, counter and floors) have zero soap scum/sticky hairspray/etc on them, so it saves on cleaning time too...and my hair is behaving way better than it was before i started this process...i pretty much had gotten to the point where i hated my hair...now i'm beginning to like it more...

i probably won't update again until 6 months...but if you ever are curious as to how 'no poo' is going, just ask!

Oh your hair looks great!! My 'no poo' experiment did not work out. I HATE my hair, a lot. It's very fine, but I have a lot of it. And I have always had a hard time getting it "clean" as in, not greasy... When I was using the baking soda, maybe I did something wrong, cause by the end of the day white flakes (leftover baking soda?) would be coming out of my head all over the place... Argh, my hair is annoying.
For the past 3 weeks I have been trying to wash my hair every other day or every third day with organic shampoo, and not one single day has it felt clean or non-greasy. :( I feel like shaving my head!!
Can you help me, hair guru? :)

I guess I've been gone a long time. I assume you are giving up shampoo for a natural cleaning way. Good for you. With my hair short now I have to use products.

Looks great! haven't tried this yet but I have been using the cleanser/baking soda combo on Friday evenings. It's most wonderful!
