it's nearly the weekend...

so naturally my thoughts turn to FOOD!

(if you are here for the may day giveaway, welcome! click here for that post)...

last weekend in celebration of SUMMER's arrival (in my mind at least) i planned yummy summery food:

friday nite was pizza made from our last ball of trader joes dough (we are making a trip there tomorrow to re-stock)...i topped it with traditional red sauce, turkey pepperoni, vidalia onion, and fresh basil from one of my basil plants...i have 3 basil plants and they are starting to really go nuts...i need to harvest a bunch and make pesto this weekend...

since the chances of rain were increasing daily last weekend we decided to grill out on saturday just in case...
cheeseburgers! first of the season! topped with baby lettuce, tomato, onion and swiss cheese...

accompanied by grilled veggies and roasted potatoes (both regular and sweet)...i added some of our rosemary and thyme to each...it was a delicious al fresco meal...

i also brought out winnie the pooh napkins...i mean, why NOT use winnie the pooh napkins???

sunday after some massive yard work i took a minute to make fresh salsa with a bunch of tomatoes that were about to loose their prime and some cilantro from my herb bed:

paired with margaritas it made a nice mid-afternoon snack!

i forgot to take pictures of sunday and monday's meals...they weren't spectacular anyways: taco salads and veggie omelets...and it did rain on monday so good thing we grilled saturday.

so, here we are at another week's end...i hope you have a great weekend doing something that makes you happy! i've got a lot planned but hope to take it easy a bit and relax on the deck...

much like this squirrel!

not a care in the world!

happy weekend!

Jason thinks the squirrel is saying "Kill me now".

I LOVE homemade salsa. I've been making it every week for the past few weeks. It's my late night snack.

HA! that squirrel photo is awesome.

I still have some pizza dough in the freezer from when I was there.

Wow, can you come cook for us????

Was that the crazy squirrel that goes into the feeder?

Yes Punchy, it's one of our munchbox squirrels. He'd just come out of it and his gut was so full, he couldn't make it back to his nest and had to lay out on the deck rail.

That squirrel is so CUTE!!!

You should have a contest for a caption for the squirrels picture... I think it would be cute to see who comes up with what...

That squirrel is hilarious. I take it you don't have a dog who is barking at him out the window or chasing him up a tree. :)
