the great bloggy meet of 2008 - part I

okay, everyone has pretty much already blogged about this but here are my pictures (click on any one's link to go to their blog and read their side of the story):
bloggy meet 2008 ~ raleigh, nc: punchy and C arrived at my house at the crack of dawn...okay really 9am but i was ready for them at 5am! i couldn't sleep for all my giddiness! they called when they hit the north carolina border and arrived about 45 minutes later...we had breakfast and then just talked for a bit while i finished getting dinner in the crock pots...i have to say that C is one of my new favorite people...she's so sweet and funny...next we took C to the mall in hopes of finding a dress for her to take to vegas...she found a SMASHING dress for $42 or something crazy like that...i cannot wait to see a picture of her in it...honestly the dress was made for her...

upon
arriving back to my house i decided perhaps i should finally pack...i threw some stuff in a duffel and we journeyed to the hotel taking the route i was going to suggest for that evening...it took FORever and i wondered if we'd ever even get there...we checked in finally with no probs and went to see our rooms and wait for more bloggers...AM and jackson came first...jackson is beyond cute....his eyes are so blue and he is truly one of the best babies i've ever seen...he pretty much never cries...he's always happy...shortly thereafter the final group for the day arrived: pam, mrs d and norman's woman...we had to leave to go to my house for dinner so there wasn't much hanging out...

we
took a longer but less congested route back to my house, caravaning in 3 cars...the husband and 'M' had completed the final touches and we dined on wine, cheese, crackers, chili and pumpkin cupcakes...after socializing and meeting my cats we all went back to the hotel for the evening...

the
next morning swampgirl and her mom arrived! after breakfast in the hotel lobby we went to trader joe's then headed to downtown...first stop was logan's for lunch at the seaboard cafe:

the flowers there were very nice and fall like...jackson saw a large pumpkin and he wanted it for his yard...maybe there is a picture of it on his mom's blog...

we headed further downtown and walked on our 'main' downtown street...it just reopened 3 years ago to traffic after being a pedestrian mall since the 70's...there are more and more restaurants opening and downtown is becoming more of a nite time spot...

our newest skyscraper...i think it's 43 stories tall

raleigh is called 'the city of oaks' and this acorn is our symbol...it is dropped from a crane on new years eve much like the ball in times square

tammy really liked this cannon on the capitol square...

the 3 president's who have hailed from north carolina

one of the house chambers (senate?)

the other chamber

some of our famous acorns...punchy likes them...i think she collects them...

after downtown we went back to the hotel for rest...punchy, tammy, swampgirl and i talked in the lobby for a bit discussing wedding woes (ugly bridesmaid's dresses, tattoos on the bride, MIL's from hell, fun stuff like that)...the husband and 'M' met us at the hotel and we all headed back downtown for dinner at 518 west...

my pizza

the husband's pasta

the rest of the evening was spent back at the hotel gabbing...the husband stayed for a bit but didn't socialize...he watched one of the tvs...they were flatscreens...he really wants a flatscreen...it was bolted down though

pam, punchy, C

swampgirl and mrs d (she has pretty blue eyes too - just like jackson)

swampgirls mom and tammy

all too soon it was sunday morning and after breakfast at the hotel again it was time for the annual group picture:

everyone piled into cars and headed on their way...BUT, punchy & C didn't leave quite yet...more to come...

I love all these pictures! I want your husband's pasta dish right now. Looks like such a good time. Those items that Swampgirl makes are so adorable. I was thinking of y'all all weekend. I'm wondering what Charlie did while the girls were at your house?? Did he stay in hiding?
