our second yadkin valley wine trip...

here are the links to pictures from the past weekend's wine trip...we left our house saturday morning at 9am and arrived at the first yadkin valley winery at 11am right as it opened for the day...punchy asked how far i drove...yeah, i don't drive if i can help it! but the husband drove about 300+ miles over the 2 days...we purchased 22 bottles of wine, not including the one we drank saturday nite with dinner...here is a map that shows all of the wineries in north carolina...the majority of our wineries are clustered in what is called the yadkin valley appellation...

a few links that you might find interesting:

~north carolina wineries

~north carolina is the 'new napa valley'

~a sample itinerary including the restaurant we had dinner at on saturday nite (we have now been to most of the wineries mentioned)

we visited about 6 wineries on saturday, had lunch at black wolf vineyards wolf's lair restaurant while we did our tasting, checked into our hotel and then went to dinner here.

sunday we ate the hotel's complimentary breakfast, lolled about until the noon checkout and then hit 3 more wineries on the way home. it was a fun but dreary weekend as you will see in the pictures...if you are interested in wineries and live anywhere near north carolina i highly suggest it as a great weekend or even full week's getaway!

The sample intinerary looks like a great plan. I think a balloon ride would be so fun!

Oh, how fun! One of these days Rob and I will get up to that region and do some wine shopping!
What was your favorite winery? Favorite bottle of wine you bought?

I think you two may need to build a wine cellar....

I know the weather was dreary, but that just seems like winery tour weather. All your pictures looked great. Have you thought about printing any out and framing them for somewhere in your house to remember your trips?
