wednesday house tour ~ mantown entry

when we bought our house luckily one of the previous owners had finished off about 2/3 of the attic into a 'bonus' room of sorts...i think of all the houses with the same layout we have in the 'village' where we live, ours is maybe one of only 2 with a finished third floor...we decided to make it into a cozy den and it has ultimately morphed into the husband's playroom...'mantown' if you will...

here is the entry into 'mantown'...i got this table at a used furniture store before i was even married and refinished it and gold leafed the top (i went thru a huge gold leaf stage)...

the theme of mantown is sports so we have found a lot of sports stuff at thrift stores and ebay for decor...here are ski poles...
the stairs make a hard turn to the right...i got this old suitcase from a friend who was moving...i found the travel stickers at pier1...most of the artwork in the landing is travel oriented, hence the suitcase...
2 posters we got on one of our trips to london...one is just a map of the subway...

some photos i took in london and framed gallery style...
more art up the stairs...including a signed carolina hurricanes hockey stick and hockey puck...
the same view going down the stairs...
...and here is a sneak peek into what lies at the top of the stairs...
next week we will finish the wednesday house tours in 'mantown'...

Really nice! I love your "tube" map, I should have picked one up when we were in London in December. You have such fabulous decorating ideas! You should write a magazine. ;)

Very manly!! My husband has that same Cowboys helmet. I think guys need their own space too, that way all their stuff doesn't end up in the living area! Can't wait to see rest of it.

Very nice...I like the third floor bonus room! I am going to get sofie to open the door to me while you're at work and I'm going to take sofie and that bottle of matches back home with me!

Very cool. Love the bright blue and all the neat decor. Cant wait to see the rest! I am sure your husband LOVES having a Man space, so he doesnt have to compete with your crafts!
