blogging from the beach day six

obviously i'm not at the beach anymore but i got behind with the blogging the last couple of days and now being back at work has made blogging near impossible. i feel like i need a vacation after being on vacation! the kids did NOT clean the house while we were gone...instead they strewed their food all over the place and left fur tumbleweeds rolling down the front stairs!

anyways...here was day six at the beach...we decided to just hang out at the condo until lunch time. the weather was iffy and we were certain it was going to rain any minute. for lunch we used the george foreman one last time for turkey paninis and then sadly packed it back away in the cabinets...

i had purchased a sweater at the izod outlet the day before simply because i knew we would be eating outside for cinco de mayo at margaritaville and i hadn't brought anything appropriate for the cooler temps we were having. i didn't try it on though...sure enough it was too big. luckily there is an izod outlet across from the condo at barefoot landing where we had shopped and browsed earlier in the week so we went there in hopes they had a smaller sweater for me. i was able to exchange it AND i got a pair of shorts too!!! the husband had to go over and see if the monkey in the diaper was there yet (refer back to day 2 for explanation) but alas there were neither monkeys or tigers that day. here is one of the fish ponds over at barefoot landing:

sweater in tow we were off to broadway at the beach!

we immediately headed to margaritaville to check out the crowds...it was fairly busy for 2:30 in the afternoon so we decided to walk all the way around the place before eating...the husband just had to try the bimini ring game...he was able to hook the ring several times...he's going to make one for our backyard now...
there are lots of these painted adirondack chairs around the big outside bar at margaritaville...
broadway at the beach is laid out around a really large man made lake...the lake has TONS of these huge weird looking fish that really want you to feed them from the numerous feed machines where you get a handful of fish food for a quarter...they look like dinosaurs to me and these pictures do not do justice to how flipping big these things are!
we always eat in the outside area that looks like the boat in this picture...
there are lots and lots of stores there...one had only pet stuff in it....oooooh, look...a pug!
i have never seen baby ducks at broadway but this weekend they were all over the lake....this wee one was very brave and kept swimming way far from his mom and siblings. i was afraid one of the giant dino fish would eat him!
ducks, ducks and more ducks of all shapes and sizes!
there is a ripley's aquarium which looks rather nice but we have never been....there is also an imax but it was closed and being converted to a 3-d imax and was set to re-open later in the month...
finally, after dawdling for as long as we possibly could...the 3 of us arrived back at margaritaville and were quickly seated outside and soon had margaritas in hand...this one is called 'license to chill'...i like blue drinks!
since we were eating early we decided to share the nachos...which were plenty for three adults and they were actually really good!
it ended up not being cold so my new sweater just sat in the car...we got back to the condo before the husband's parents even left for dinner! we were just in time to see the kentucky derby and then we watched tv, drank wine and read books...the reality that the next day we would be packing up and heading home was beginning to set in...then just before 8pm 'M' announced she had to have some sweet potato fries from house of blues...so we got in the car (i put on my new sweater first cause it had gotten cool outside) and headed back to barefoot landing where house of blues is located...we usually do eat here each trip but it just didn't work out this time what with all the cooking we decided to do...i can actually see the house of blues all lit up at nite from my bed in the condo...if you've never been to one, they have strange art inside...it's often for sale and there is more for sale in the gift shop...
we sat at the bar and shared an order of catfish nuggets which come with the sweet potato fries...we stopped in the gift store outside and they husband modeled an 'elwood' outfit...
we went back to the condo again and stayed put for the nite...the fun was about to come to an end...

I like that Broaway at the Beach...what neat place. Reminds me of Downtown Disney with all that going on...sure are a lot of duckies. I hate the feeling of vacation ending when you're having a good time. Tell "M" that she and I would get a long great...going out for a craving at nigh time!

Sounds like your vacation was perfect. House of Blues is really a great place we used to go to the one in Vegas.

THose nachos look SOOO good. That aquarium is really good. You can pet the sting rays!!!

Is it just me, or are we seeing a lack (or none rather) of photos of you?
