wednesday house tour...don't get too excited...it's just a hallway

ok everyone, we are finished with the downstairs and are heading up to the second floor. y'all have already had a preview of the seven jennifer pudney needlepoints that i made and hung going up the stairs...here are two of them up close:

i really like this one...it's called 'bathing beauties'

on the right side of the stairwell hangs this picture by a local artist of our state capitol building...i really like this picture as it brings back memories of when my aunt use to take me to the capitol when i was very young and we would buy peanuts from a blind man who was always there selling them...they came in a small white paper bag and where warm...we would feed them to the squirrels and pigeons...somewhere in this picture is someone feeding the wildlife...i don't know if you can see it or not...

at the top of the stairs hangs 3 months worth of an art calendar...i get a new one every year for christmas and hang a quarter of the year at a time. each month is always so colorful and i look forward to seeing the new quarter each time i change it out...i just changed it out last weekend even though it was past april 1st.

there is also a little zebra stool under the calendar who holds a stack of books waiting to be read...
all of the rooms on the second floor are off of this upper hall: 3 bedrooms, guest bath, laundry, bonus room. here are the doors to the laundry...it was messy in there so no photo's today...

these 2 guys hang on the laundry doors...they are really christmas ornaments that i re-purposed to be 'art'.

there is a small banister at the top of the stairs...a chenille blanket is hanging there now but i think i will switch it out for a quilt this weekend...sort of spring decorating if you will...

the area directly across from the laundry is the only significant amount of wall space up here...it's pretty much just a bunch of doorways...

i got this old telephone table (well, i think that's what it is) at goodwill and painted it/gold leafed the top and knob...it holds more books and a small lamp that lights this area at night...the dress form came from a local store that went out of business...'she' is wearing a vintage sweater and hat.

there is one more thing hanging in this area...this tiny strip of wall space is between girlville and the doorway to the bonus room...i got this a LONG time ago at a pottery store...

well that's it for this edition of wednesday house tour...next week i think we are going into the guest bath...this is the kids' bathroom so i've put them on notice to clean it up!

Again...beautiful! I absolutely love that dress form and how you placed it in that nook. Really cute! Love the needlepoint and print of the capitol.

When we get our house I want my laundry room upstairs too. I love the zebra table and the beautiful sweater and hat on the model. All of it is very pretty.

I agree with Pam and MS...love the vintage sweater and the model and then the picture there, too, of drawing of the model. This is so fun seeing your house.

I like what you've done with the needlepoints. Framing them really jazzs them up . And I like the calendar idea too! Is the calendar framed or just the paper on the wall? I couldnt tell.

thanks for all the nice comments, everyone!

am, the calendar is framed in really cheap 8x10 'format' frames which load from the front. i got them from a craft store.
