festivals

tis the season of festivals! this weekend we are going to two...

first on saturday we are heading to great grapes is cary, nc. there will be food, wine, and some artists. it's supposed to be about 70 degrees and sunny so it should be a nice day.

on sunday we are going to a herb festival in downtown wake forest, nc. i hope to get all my herbs for planting this year. my rosemary bush stays year round and the chives and thyme have come back this year. i want/NEED basil, basil, and more basil. of course, this is the herb that refuses to grow for me! i like to use it on fresh tomato, basil and mozzarella pizzas and to make bruschetta. so i'm crossing my fingers that i can get some good, hardy basil and that it will thrive. we had a landscape architect come over last nite to help us with our pitiful backyard. she's going to draw up a design...we shall see how it goes...

have a great weekend! what are your plans?

Yes, sounds like fun. Do you ever make pesto with the basil? Do you grow yours indoors or out? If you grow it outside, do bugs bother them?

Oh, those both look like really fun festivals! We went to a festival last Saturday but the weather was little chilly. I did get some gourmet dog biscuits for Lola though!

This weekend my nephew is coming to stay with us and we plan to attend a festival that's all about taking care of the planet...sort of like an Earth Day festival. Should be fun!

rpm, i grow the basil outside and the bugs aren't too bad. i get this soap based stuff to squirt on the plants (won't kill humans) and it takes care of the bugs! yes, i make pesto if i have a good enough crop.

am, there is a great grapes in charlotte in october...it's on the main website.
