what i have to show for the weekend...

the husband and i had friday off to take a friend for a medical appointment. the afternoon was set aside for destruction of the chair for girlville. i think i did a fairly nice job of tearing it up! whoever recovered it put the fabric right on top of the old fabric! this is NOT how re-upholstering is done. upon ripping up the arms a bit i found that the wooden pieces there are just simple 'appliques' that came right off. trouble is i cannot figure where they go back on. and i think i would like it better without the wood on the arms so i'm going to call the upholstery man and ask if he can figure out some way to recover it without putting the wood thingies back on. i picked out my fabric and purchased it last week. it's a surprise so you've gotta wait til the whole thing is finished.

destruction!

on saturday i painted another small canvas and hung both i've done so far. I also came up with the idea to paint on wood scraps cause the husband has lots in his workshop (aka attic) and they would essentially be FREE! i like free stuff. so i found a couple of pieces and told him how big i wanted them and he cut and sanded them up for me. he is the best!

second finished canvas (5x7) and i'm totally aware that the ladybug is nowhere near centered. i must have had too much wine ( really it was originally going to have longer antennae)!

the husband hung the 2 canvases for me. i think they add lots of color. girlville is shaping up to be colorful although the husband says it's 'cozy'.

here is a present all wrapped up for a friend....

this was in the package. it's the first wooden block. i made it to match the pillow i recovered for her a week or so ago - the paisley body pillow (should be a couple of posts below).

that pretty much sums up my creativity over the weekend. i am into the fourth of 15(!) skeins of yarn on the husband's blanket. every time i sit down to work on it kady gets in my lap. there is going to be a lot of kady fur woven in - i think it will just make it softer!

luckily the freezer was well stocked so i did NO cooking! we had a trader joe's spinach pizza with a salad on saturday nite and leftover pancakes that i had frozen last weekend and bacon on sunday nite. but alas...the freezer is getting bare and i think this weekend is going to require major cooking and baking.

That sounds like a nice weekend! I love the thought of the cat sitting on your project while you're working on it. I did not even notice the ladybug was not centered. All your painting projects look great and colorful. I can't wait to see the finished chair!

rpm, i am so glad you didn't notice the off-centeredness! that makes me feel better.

pam, 'added texture' i love it! that's what i'm going to call the kady fur in the blanket. she's trying to climb on the computer right now as i type...
